Dr. Bart Depreitere graduated at KULeuven medical school (Belgium) in 1997. He completed his neurosurgical training in Leuven in 2004, defended his PhD in Medical Sciences at KULeuven in 2004 and did a fellowship in spine surgery and pediatric neurosurgery in Toronto in 2005-2006. Since 2006, he works as staff neurosurgeon at the University Hospitals Leuven. He chairs the multidisciplinary spine program and coordinates the neurosurgical pediatric brain tumor program. His main spinal topics of interest are spinal tumor surgery and craniocervical pathology. He is appointed professor at KULeuven and teaches spine pathology for physiotherapy students and neurosurgery for medical students. He is secretary of the Belgian Society of Neurosurgery, and board member of the EANS Spine Section, the Eurospine Research Task Force and the Eurospine Spine Tango Task Force. He is co-founder and current secretary of the Spine Society of Belgium.
